Taking Representative to IB Medical was created by hereandthere
Hi, I just wanted to find out, if I wanted to take a representative with me to an IB Medical, when called, are there any mental health charities or caring agencies that one could contact to accompany you to the medical? I have been through one of these before, and even though my appeal was upheld, it was a total nightmare, so going without support would not be an option.

Any responses would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

Scott

Hi Scott

The CAB generally don't provide representation (depending on where you live) but there are some local welfare organisations that do. The link below may help you find one.

Good luck

Are they still doing IB medicals - thought all was for ESA now.

Yes, you're right, Graham, it would be for ESA, but the situation as regards representation is the same.

Good point Graham, I was thinking of an appeal tribunal.

I'm not sure who provides services to accompany people to medicals but I may be worth phoning a local mental health charity.

Local Mind offices often employ advocates who can act on behalf of people with mental health problems.

I am aware that my local Mind accompanies claimants/appellants to medical assessments and appeal tribunals, so it is well worth making an enquiry to find out whether they will be able to help you?
