Thanks Gordon I thought that might be the case however we are really pleased with what we have and if his care needs increase even more then we will relook at everything

You cannot usually be paid Carer’s Allowance if you
receive one or more of the following benefits:
Contributory Employment and Support Allowance
Incapacity Benefit
Maternity Allowance
Bereavement or widow’s benefits
Severe Disablement Allowance
Contribution-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
State Retirement Pension

Wel done for getting the claim pushed through.
I am afraid you son would need to be on Middle or Higher Rate Care, for you to be able to claim Carer's Allowance for him.
I don't believe that CA would affect your ESA(CB) or DLA rates, but if your son was ever awarded MRC or HRC you should check with a benefits advisor to confirm this.

You have misunderstood what the phrase "You cannot usually be paid Carer’s Allowance if you receive one or more of the following benefits" says.
CA and the benefits you mention overlap, which means you only get paid for one of them.
If HassledMum was able to claim CA, she would not receive any additional payement for CA, but should be eligible for the Carer's Premium, which is payable on top of ESA.
