Dementia

If someone has Vascular Dementia no short term at all meomory would that alone get them in support group ? if so why ? I am sure off the top of my head they would score 15 points on the ESA test.

My instinctive reaction is that there would be a serious risk of harm to them or others if they were not found to have limited capacity for work-related activity. I would take into account the effect on their mental wellbeing. Could someone with no short term memory get safely to work related activity? What sort of work-related activity could they safely participate in? Could they get safely home again?

(Actually, I'd love to see the look on the faces of staff at a private service provider when they realise they've got someone on their hands who's come for a WFI and can't remember where they live or how to get home and turns out not to have brought any money or a doorkey.)

Also, I find it difficult to envisage someone with vascular dementia reaching the stage of having no short term memory at all without also having other symptoms, such as wandering off and general confusion. It would be a bit embarrassing for a WFI provider to "lose" a client.
