I've got a big dip in my hearing where speech is and also what they call upwards spread of masking, which is where you hear the bass frequencies far more than everything else so it drowns them out. Speech in a pub where the footy's on is impossible for me. I'd say yes myself because such is my experience.

Hi CJ
To score points under the mental health test your inability to carry out the activity must be a result of mental disability.

Yes Derek
Acquiring total hearing Loss is a mental problem, becoming isolated not mixing with people.
I think this warrants a tick no problem at all, I am totally Deaf with nothing inside of ears at all, and have severe communication problems. And also ANGER sets in.. Even getting to point of people not understanding what im saying a lot..

I think then that the key thing is to establish that the problems arise out of the mental impact of going Deaf rather than from the fact of being Deaf. It may require explanation when filling in forms to make sure any Decision Maker understands this.

Yes I agree with that Survivor, As I had Cochlear Implant to try give me more hearing, that operation means removing everything, sensoneural everything, that was R ear, Left went because of Labrynthitis BALANCE that is also still an issue..
Main point is I lost all last year because of operation for Cochlear Implant that didnt work, Hence why Im having another op soon to remove it..
Hearing is a bodily function, Im just working out what needs to be filled in when time comes, I have other problems But feel Deafness needs to be pushed to them at Atos...
