Sending new evidence to DWP was created by The Thing
Hi a friend of mine is under the umbrella of the local Mental Health Team and is seen by a social worker once a week from this team.

HE is on Inc/Ben and was wondering whether to ask his social worker to send an update to the DWP as his condition has got a lot worse, he has had problems with his Mental Health for a lot of years.

He is just wondering whether this is a good idea and where do you sent this letter to.

Many Thanks

Hi,

What purpose does your friend have in mind in sending a letter at this stage?

On the face of it, sending such a letter would have no material affect - particularly with the forthcoming transfer of IB claimants to ESA under which there are no exemptions on mental health grounds.

I think most people would take the view that in relation to IB/ESA it would be better to wait until your friend is actually selected for review, which may not be for some years.

In relation to DLA the answer would probably be different.

Good luck,

Steve
