ESA letter was created by Lyn32
Hi, today I have received letter informing me that I am no longer entitled to ESA and that I scored 0 at the medical. There is no information included in the letter about how I can appeal this decision or if I am aloud to, could anyone please give me some advise? Also what happens to my benefit situation as this was my only income, I have tried to contact jobcentre all day but they are to busy to take calls, if I don't call today could my start date for any other benefit claims be delayed?

OK, here's what to do next.
Firstly, you want a form GL24. You can get that from a Jobcentre or download it from the government's website.
You then go into the Help for Claimants section, look at the materials on ESA appeals and get started.
You have one month to send in the GL24.
Meanwhile, tell the DWP that you are appealing and that you want to continue to claim ESA whilst your appeal is pending.
If there is a delay getting ESA, then you may be able to get a loan (no interest payable) from the social fund. www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits...w_income/DG_10018856
If you need help with either the ESA appeal or an application to the social fund, then it would be worth seeking face to face advice from a local advice service such as the CAB.
There may also be local charities that can provide emergency help for you and again local advice services should have details.
