ESA 50 deadline query

I'm approaching the deadline for my ESA 50 to be submitted, (incidentally, received two months after tribunal awarded in my favour), and I was wondering what is the absolute last day it can be sent? The deadline I've been given to return it to At*s by is 23 December.
I assume it is "reasonable", legally, to send it on the 22nd, "guaranteed delivery", but is it okay to send it on the 23rd itself?
It has been so exhausting to filling the whole thing, and it has taken me weeks, and it is still not finished. I could use the extra day.
Thanks guys,
Jon

Hi,
I suppose technically it should be with them by the day indicated. To be honest though you are leaving it very tight for comfort.
Not wishing to alarm you, but it was on the news again yesterday that in parts of the country Royal Mail are no longer guaranteeing the delivery dates of their guaranteed delivery service due to the weather. conditions.

I agree with Pete, unless you post it on the 22nd with next day delivery, it is unlikely to reach ATOS on time.
You appear to have two options if you need the extra time; contact your DWP office and agree an extension, or return the form late and explain on page 25 of the ESA50 why you have done so, this explained on page 1 of the form.
I would suggest being proactive and ringing would be the way to go, given the weather at the moment, this should not be an unreasonable request.

Just to update you about the guaranteed delivery - this is from the latest Royal Mail news (updated today) on their website:
Special Delivery™
Whilst we’re continuing to accept, prioritise and expect to deliver the majority of Special Delivery™ items posted before the last posting date of 23rd December, weather conditions in some areas means some of these items may experience a delay as they move through our pipeline. This means we cannot guarantee next day delivery of all items in all areas so, to provide customers with clear guidance, the Special Delivery guarantee remains withdrawn (from 1st December).

Hence I would definitely telephone them as Gordon Suggests.

This is really helpful. I'll definitely give them a ring tomorrow. How useful to have stumbled upon a means (i.e. This website/you), of getting decent answers to these obscure yet pretty important questions.
Thanks again, Jon
