Old inc/ben report was created by The Thing
Hi i have an old letter from a previous inc/ben medical that was sent to my GP from the Doctor who examined me for an inc/med.

In it the letter it states as follows.

I have today examined your above named patient and in my opinion he is incapable of all work for medical reasons.

Will this report be of any use for ESA medicals in the future.

i would use it everytime they send you the forms to fill in. if (hopefully they don't) say you are fit for work and your medical conditions are the same or worse, send them a copy

how old is the report?

When you are looking at evidence, there are a number of factors that you need to consider when trying to establish its value.

How old is it? The older the evidence, the less credibly it will be viewed. You may need to provide additional evidence that your condition remains unchanged or has worsened in the interim.

Who is the opinion from? It is reasonable to assume that the opinion of your GP will carry less weight than that of a consulatant who specialises in your condition.

What evidence supports the opinion? The less the evidence that is supplied in support of the opinion, the less weight that will be given to it.

Is the opinion relevant to the benefit being claimed? The tests for DLA, IB and ESA are all different, would an opinion given in the context of an IB claim hold the same weight as one given for ESA, as an example.

I think that these are all factors you need to consider, when looking at what evidence to include and this letter in particular.

I doubt it as that was what was thought by that doctor on that day, you could be better or sicker .... also that letter was wrote based on the rules then, even if you have not got better and are in fact sicker.... you could be found fit for work under the new rules :(

The report is fairly old,my disability that the DSS Doctor assessed for back then cant get better, in fact ive got other disabilities that have developed since then like osteoarthritis in both hips and both knees which have both been confirmed by consultants, and the knee osteoarthritis was also confirmed at a DSS medical last year for Industrial Disablement Benefit,in which i also got a favourable report.

Even after a year on ESA i find myself being surprised that i entered into all this totally, 100% ignorant!

I answered all questions in complete confidence of the ATOS
doctor's ability and was neither asked for or brought anything to support my claim! I must have been naive in the extreme to have had such faith in the system, they probably only gave me the 15 points out of pity for my lack of understanding of the whole business!

After all i have read on here Headinawheelchair, i would take every scrap of paper you can find relating to your health problems and then some!
