This happend to my husband a couple of years ago not one to stand any rubish he rang our MP and told him what atos had done, he had to put it in a email and send it to the mp so he could act. the same day the mp reply was emaild back stating " as you are in hospital as a in-patient you are exempt for pca and medicals"later that day the head of the benefits section rang him and said sorry but said he should of informed them he was in hospital however benefit was continued for another year. i am sure that this exemption still stands and you need to take advice as to telling them that you were exempt and you may well get the apology you deserve hope this inf can help you noeline
