DLA Wait was created by ThriceQuarky
I submitted my DLA form on 8 October 2010, following the guidance provided on this site. I ended up sending in 64 pages of 'additional information' covering all the questions in parts 3&4 as well as two appendices of letters, GP notes, and three statements from those who know me.

Aside from a letter confirming receipt of my claim form, I've had two letters stating that they can not give me a decision because they have requested reports from Psychiatrist and my GP.

Should I be worried about the time this is taking or is this par for the course?

Sorry, this is causing me quite a bit of anxiety, as I've taken quite a financial hit over the past year due to my illnesses.

Thanks,
ThriceQuarky

I would say you dont yet have anything to worry about, something you put stopped them turning you down flat and they have asked for more information, many people get turned down with the information supplied when they send the form in, so far you have jumped through one hoop ;)

i applied in september and herd nothing for weeks so i rang them last friday and was told that they had recived it but had not done anything.
they did say sorry and said somebody would ring me back in upto 5 days to explain what has gone wrong, so i expect they will say that they are waiting for a report from my gp.
i do feel that 15 weeks without any reply is a bit much and yes the anxiety just adds to my health problems,
hope it turns out ok for us all in the end
regards
noeline

It can sometimes take a long time for doctors to respond to requests for information from the DWP, so it may be worth calling the GP's receptionist and the consultant's secretary and chivvying them a bit.

Thanks for the responses. Yes, I suppose I should view it positively that they didn't flat out reject my claim by return of post. I've taken your advice, Survivor, and nagged my GP and Psychiatrist regarding their return of paperwork. Hopefully that will move it along.

Thanks.
