Married couple- one on DLA & one about to appeal. was created by Doris
I was talking to a lady who attends the same pain clinic has myself. She is currently in receipt of HRM DLA .
Her husband has his own DLA tribunal in early December . She has asked me if the tribunal panel would be aware she also gets DLA and if they will ask any questions regarding her claim .
Although she has not stated as such, I feel she fears being 'quietly' observed by the panel or DWP rep to see if she is not one of these scroungers the press like to tell the public about. ( based on all the current scaremongering going on, I can understand her concerns )

I beleive her fears are understandable in the climate of negative press in recent times. However, the panel will not know she is in receipt of DLA unless it is volunteered
They will only be interested in the case before them. If she gives evidence, the Panel will have their own impressions as to accuracy and credibility.
I think the trbunal rep will not be much interested in her DLA unless she was (as a wild example) to volunteer that she gets high rate mobility and sits at the tribunal table with a London Marathon T short on lookinbg very fit and moving in and out of the room in an agile and athletic manner.. which I think is a wild exmaple, but you get the idea

No, the appeal tribunal will not ask the lady about her DLA claim, because they will not know whether or not she receives the allowance?
In any event, it is her husband's appeal hearing and the issue is solely to decide whether he is entitled to DLA? If a DWP presenting officer decides to attend the hearing, again their only concern will be with the appeal under consideration and not with anybody else who may attend.
I hope this is of some assistance to both you and the lady concerned?
