After 9 years receiving HRM LRC i have today heard that i will no longer get HRM and have LRC for 2 years. I have a degenerative back problem. I believe it is because i returned to work in January this year and was able to do so beacause i had a Mobility vehicle which i had to return 3 weeks ago. What do i do? Should i appeal and if so where might i find someone to represent me? I tried to make a difference by making the effort to get into work again and have a 14 mile round trip to work and cant use public transport. If i give up my job i wont be entitled to any benefit and just dont know which way to turn. Any advice would be gratefully received.
Hi,
Sorry to hear of your predicament.
Firstly as soon as practicable, but within a month of your award letter you must send in a form GL24, asking for an appeal. You can download the GL24 from here or ring the DWP on 0845 7123456.

You could ask for a reconsideration of your case, but this is done anyway as part of the appeal tribunal process.
It is better (and usually more successful) to ask for an oral tribunalwhere you attend, than a 'paper' tribunal where only the paperwork is reconsidered.
You can get help and advice from either a local Law Centre (If you have one) or Citizens Advice Bureau or via Community Legal Advice - details here:

Good luck
Pete
