Hi bongz.
I was puzzled about the CB for a child at University too, i am in no doubt that you have explored all avenues but i suspect the other poster was concerned you would end up owing money further down the line.
BTW, i am sorry that your son has decided to leave his course early, that is most unfortunate and most likely the last thing you need ATM!
All the best, Ranald.

Nothing is set in stone yet. We won't hear officially of planned cuts until 20 October 2010 when proposed cuts are announced.
The proposals then have to be approved by both Houses of Parliament.
Until then, anything stated is pure speculation.

Hi Jima1,
I agree, but you never know where the next leak is coming from. (snigger).

Hi bongz
I think there may possibly have been a technical hiccup, as the previous two posts seem to be related to a thread on the discussion forum. Apologies for any confusion.
I would also like to add that CB is not something that we specialise in. I'm very sorry that you haven't found your first post to a forum very helpful, but please do not be put off posting further questions.
Best wishes
Derek

I think Jim has placed his post in the wrong thread/forum.
On the question of Child Benefit, this is normally paid for courses up to level three which are those which are primarily below that of a degree for a young person, up to the day before their twentieth birthday.
Once a young person commences a level four course which is usually degree level at a university, Child Benefit will cease from the first Monday in September prior to the commencement of the course.
If there is any doubt about the status of the educational course being followed, that is whether it is advanced or non-advanced, it is imperative that confirmation is sought from the Child Benefit Office in writing to prevent any possible overpayment.
