DLA/Going into hospital ?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, so apologies if it isn't. I currently get (for the last year) HRM for arthritis & Low care for fibromyalgia, I had also put on my application form about my psoraisis. I had a home medical & that was when I received my award.It runs out next year. At the time I felt my psoriasis wasn't considered as it should have been.

Now it has become so bad I've been told I will be admitted to a specialist hospital for a minimum of 5 days. Do I have to inform DLA ? I had thought of asking them for medium care but after reading posts where people lost their benefits I decided against it. I'm anxious about contacting them full stop. I expect to get my renewal within the few months so can I leave this information until then. Basically I'm looking for advice on what to do & still safeguard my award.

You're supposed to notify the DWP if you go into hospital, but it won't affect your DLA if you're in for less than a month.

Because of cancellations, I can't see how you would be able to give the DWP details of your admission until you were actually admitted, otherwise you might find yourself writing several letters saying you were due to be admitted, your admission was cancelled etc.

So by the time you can write to the DWP you'll be home in a few days, so you'll probably be home again by the time you're in a fit state to write to them.

Obviously, if anyone is in hospital for any length of time, they need to make arrangements to tell the DWP, so anyone in hospital for longer might seek help from a relative or a social worker or a ward clerk with notifying the DWP whilst they are still in hospital.
