Travel Costs to Pathways Interview was created by tazman
I have been called for a WFI next week after waiting over a year for IB renewal pack to arrive. Obviously, I am terrified and can't face going on the bus. Can I claim for taxi fare? A friend is coming with me, but doesn't have a car.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Tazman
I think you should phone the number on the letter you received informing you of the interview and ask, after explaining that you can't face going on the bus. You will probably need to get permission in advance before they will refund your cab fare.
Best of luck
Derek

Thanks Derek, have just read the back of the letter and it says they 'may' be able to help with travel costs. I suppose that means that unless you are almost dead you have no chance!
My problems are mostly mental health related and don't even feel able to ring them so will have to just swallow the cost.
Oh well, just one more thing to worry about.

Hi
They pay travel expenses each time you go whether it be bus or mileage (which is very generous) but if you need a taxi you will need to get prior agreement with them as Derek has already said.
Good luck

Thanks Mm, so nice to have sympathetic friends on here. I think I would go completely mad without this site. Not just 80% mad as I am now!!
I will let you know how it goes.

Hi Tazman
I think you're probably right, they may expect you to have severe physical disabilities to require a taxi.
However, if you could get a friend to phone on your behalf, and perhaps state (or argue) that you would be completely unable to attend by bus, it may be worth a try.
Good luck whatever you choose to do.
