as per subject box it is. My husband has psoriasis arthritis fibromylaga and diabetes. The threads of symptoms from these would fill a book however DLA say my Husband is only entitled to low rate care for help cooking a meal. They except he is slow doing other things i.e dressing bathing etc however they say as long as he does these things slowly he can keep himself safe and won't fall over balance etc. Erm wtf even our Doctor looked at us gone out. My husband has balance issues, is in pain right through out his body etc etc as I would be a week putting it all yet friends of ours the partner gets high rate mobility and high rate care and has less wrong with her than my husband and does not have the same difficulties as my husband and she got given those rates this year. Go figure! I can't work out how they come to the decisions they do. We have just asked again for a super session and even with more proof they still my husband is on the right rate of DLA so they basically saying our Doctors and hospital specialists are liars. Yes we have asked for a recon and a appeal and I'll keep going however long it takes to get this overturned as it is wrong and unfair :S

they are not calling them liars they are just saying they think on the evidance thats all the help he needs

you need to give more details ..........

not of whats wrong the docs did that, you have to go into more details of the problems he has..

think again about your comments of your friend.. you do not have all the evidance or details of the claim

all they seem to have done to me is a better job of the paper work ;)

Hi Kefkat, Have you got a wefare rights officer involved in your case? DLA is a benefit to assisst with your mobility/care needs on a daily basis. Please get some face to face advice and also go through all the DLA guides on this site, Also obtain all the medical evidence you can ie, Consultants GP(but make sure your GP is up to date with the daily problems you and your husband are having) Best Wishes

thanks for the replies however I used to work in advocacy so I know how to do the forms and I use the updates from here also. I also did my friends I spoke of forms for them so I got there rates through and was surprised how high re my original 1st post. I didn't do my husband this time as I thought a benefits worker might just tip the scales as I seem to be able to help others get there D.L.A through at the right rate or more. Sounds a bit sod law we are having and it was the benefits worker that said it was a lottery. She put nothing different into what I would have put in. Well we will see what recon and appeal brings. I have never had any problem helping anyone with there forms get D.L.A but when it comes to my husband well. Will update on what recon and appeal if needed brings. Yes my Husband Doctor is up to date and did us an excellent support letter to go in with the supersession

Hi Kefkat,

It pains me to write about him but my late father suffered extensively with psoriasis to the point where it turned him into an alcoholic just to cure the pain.

He claimed DLA & got awarded LRC & HRM. He battled at appeal to get a blue badge and eventually won. You see, psoriasis not only attacks the skin...but the joints too.

He was mostly confined to a wheelchair as he had 'Cerebral Ataxia' which affects balance and gait. I am unsure whether or not this was due to the psoriasis or alcoholism, or a combination of both. After a while struggling to cope on his own, I decided to submit a change of circumstance claim identifying the need for me to assist with all his personal and domestic care needs. He was awarded HRC within 2/3 weeks which meant i was entitled to carers allowance also. Psoriasis caused my Dad so much depression and pain that he was also seriously emotionally affected. Needless to say the drink killed him in the end.

I would say to keep pursuing the matter. Most people think that psoriasis is just a skin complaint but it causes so many related issues.

Explain EVERYTHING in minute detail and lay these things on thick, as on the surface, is all psoriasis seems to be. And dont give up.

Hi all I found my original posting in here that I re-posted on yesterday and for those who haven't read or connected it in with the posted yesterday we got the super session overturned at reconsideration to high rate care and high mobility proving my point that it is a lottery. We didn't put anymore evidence in only the template base we used from here to ask for a reconsideration and it was overturned so as my super session overturned at reconsideration post says thank you to you all and especially Steve and co for this site
Lellipup thank you for your posting especially. I can empathize with your pain and seeing your Dad turn to drink as I know first hand the damage drink causes even when you know why someone doing it, it affects all the family
