Relief - ESA into Work Related Group

Welcome to the site and good luck with your medical result, hope it all goes well for you. There are some people reported that they have had medical and results in a matter of weeks.
I personally had my medical 1st week in July for ESA, I too was told by the nurse that I would get my decision in a few weeks I am still waiting for the outcome. I rang them today and they said that the backlog is growing and therefore I will hopefully get my decision this side of Christmas. I have given up waiting on the postman now .....what will be will be. I will just keep putting in the sick notes, oh and I have had 4 of my pathways to work interviews so it looks like they will be finished before I get the decision.
Hopefully you will be one of the lucky ones and get your decision quickly.

I appreciate the reply thanks, I'm glad you was able to read my post, i just had a lot to get out.

i guess i could be waiting a while then, thanks a lot for the info.

hmm, you've had 4 pathway to works already. i thought the only difference between the work related group and the support one was the pathway to work component of the work related group.

i was told by the lady at my 1st pathway to work (which was just a greeting and general questions about my condition which was probably the same for you) that i would hear from them again once the dwp made the decision.

did you find the pathways to work useful at all?

Well done Mermaid. Victory for ME/CFS sufferers, which I was also diagnosed with. It will be interesting to see what the British government does now that a retrovirus is associated with this illness, in view of the fact, that WPI are collecting bloods from ME sufferers in the UK. Despite denial from the Pschs in the UK, that it does not exist here in the UK, guess what? Some early tests done in the USA from the WPI confirms that indeed, ME sufferers, also carry this virus in the UK. Bye bye psychobabblers in the UK!!

Hi chafur and others with ME/CFS.

Well i am actually in the UK XMRV study re ME/CFS but I fear that in the short term nothing will be done by the Govt or NHs to change things re treatment.

However biomedical studies, and the fact that all those with ME/CFS will be banned from donating blood from November will help to up the profile of the illness and also will hopefully concentrate the minds of the GPs and others who fail to take the illness seriously.

This will I hope then have an impact too on the reports they write for you as patient, for ESA. I was lucky enough to have one of the leading UK experts writing my report for ESA, and pointing out that working at this point could worsen my health.

I have to say that I approached my ESA medical like a military campaign - bookmarking info weeks beforehand. I was a union rep in a previous existence so my mind works like that ....

You need to know how their minds work re the medical, and the Benefits and Work info is second to none in helping you to help yourself.

I had no other advice from anyone really. However I am intelligent and can write well (was not so articulate on the day of the medical!) - I feel desperately sorry for those who go in like "lambs to the slaughter".
