In the absence of moderators, mainly due to ill health/disability themselves, most moderators are unable to pre-moderate posts, nor to reply to posts. That includes Pete, pata1 and myself.

Crazydiamond has more or less for the last week been having to do both functions himself, often spending 6 hours a day online.

However, he is on a well deserved holiday with his family himself from 19 to 29 August 2010.

During this period it may well be that the forums will have to close down for this period.

However, this decision is down to the site owner, Steve Donnison. So hopefully he will be able to post soon on this issue in the near future.

Jim, as I said elsewhere I really hope the site stays up, it is a daily lifeline to many like-minded folks, me included.

Take your points though. Having so said isn't Steve away himself for a wee while?

Will we still be able to access the guides please? Is it possible to just close the forums for a while but still let us have access to information. Guess we'll just have to all learn how to search! Hope everyone gets well soon and thank you all for all you do here, it is very much appreciated.

Would it be possible to close the forum to new posts; while letting old posts and threads remain open, so that anyone needing help could trawl back through what has already been written to find the information that they're looking for??

I don't know if that is at all technically possible to do while the moderators are having a well earned break; I'm just doing some 'Edward de Bono-type' lateral thinking.

If it is deemed necessary to close the forums 'pro tem' then you can always use the 'Search Forum' facility as most questions have been replied to before.

Members subscriptions are to access Benefits & Work guides, so they will still be available to all subscribing members.

The forum is provided as a 'courtesy' and does not form part of your subscription.

Jim

Forgive me please...I didn't mean the site, I should have said forum in my post.

I take your point and can only say how helpful it has been speaking with others all-be-it via a professional forum.

Is there anything any of us can do to help you out in the shorter term? Whilst no expert (far from it) I'd be delighted to help if I can.

All the best
