ESA - Success - (I think) !!! was created by MammaT
Hello all,
I finally had my medical on 6th July after first claiming in June 2009 (backdated to May 2009). I filled out the medical questionnaire following the guidance on this site and found the medical very tailored to the answers I'd given on the form - so not too painful.
I have not heard anything from the DWP at all since but on checking my bank account today found that over £1200 had been paid in by them last week so I'm assuming that's back payment (although I don't like to assume anything when it comes to the DWP).
I have nothing in writing so do not know what group I'm in or what happens from now on so I'll be interested to see how long it takes to get paperwork through...
I'm cautiously optimistic but I'm just praying it's not the latest in a long line of mix-ups as the money's cleared my hefty overdraft so I don't actually have it to pay back to them.....
I want to thank all those involved in running this site as without your guidelines I know the medical would have been much more stressful than it was. I filled out the form exactly as recommended which took ages and involved repeating myself over and over but it seems to have worked and, thanks to you, my bank account's in credit for the first time since June 2009 when I first applied for ESA.
Now I wonder how long it will be before the next ATOS form lands on my doormat?

I was happy with my decision to go in to the WRAC group, that was until I got my medical report, I was horrified when I discovered what the doctor had said on it. So happy for you that you have received your arrears, tho' that is wonderful and good luck with everything from now on!

Yes I was wondering myself about the medical report and I think I will write to request mine. I've finally received the letter from DWP (dated 22 July but received last week)and there's no information about what happens next, how long benefit is for or anything about sick/fit notes at all. I had assumed, as had my doctor that I wouldn't have to get any more sick/fit notes.
Do you mind if I ask what happened with you?
Also all the calculations they showed were for last years figures as they had to pay arrears!
Did you get your score sheet with your medical?
Thanks and hope you don't mind me asking.

Well Judy there were times when I wondered that myself!
I didn't get any money at all from the time I applied to the third week in August(a wait of about 10 weeks as I remember)and then it was assessment rate until last week so I did have a little more than fresh air! (And thank God for overdrafts).
At the time the jobcentre kept advising me to apply for a crisis loan but I kept asking them what I was expected to pay that back from as it was not certain at that stage I would be given any ESA at all.
I fell into the too sick to claim income support but maybe not sick enough to claim ESA.......

I just checked these messages I didn't know you had written to me, sorry!
I didn't get a score sheet, no. I have no idea what my score was. but presume if must have been over 15. My problem now is that my certificate expires next week and I have no idea if I have to get a new one. I'm now worried that I will have a new ESA 50 and another medical. Any ideas?
