Return to Work Interview was created by endofmytether
Hi,
is there anyone out there who could advise me what will happen at a Return to Work Interview? I'm terrified. Already increasingly genuinely upset and anxious at the recent daily attacks and insults for people claiming ICB or DLA, I feel like I'm doing something wrong by having to be in the position to claim and be in receipt of benefits in the first place! (Who on earth would go through this stress if not genuinely unable to work?)
If anyone can help, I'd be really grateful.
Many thanks.

HELLO ive just been reading about your
fear of the return to work letter.
i have had what i think you now may be looking at.
Does it say that they want to see how
they can help getting you back to work.
If that is the case 1st stop geting your
self upset these letters normaly follow
you filling a IB150 and then getting a
letter that says your illness meets the
threshold and the amout of points you
were given. You dont say what your illness
is it Physical or due a mental condition.
When you go to the Job Cte make sure you
tell them if you are attending hospital are
you on tablets and how your illness efects
you and how your allways in pain. I went
through the same thing a couple of times
they have stopped sending for me. Most
important thing is you use the web site
theres loads of info and help when filling
in forms allways keep copies and if your
not sure ask. Good luck Ruffles

Hi Ruffles, thanks so much for your reply. Yes, I got the letter informing me that the benefit would continue, had approximately 24 hrs of relief, then got the Return to Work letter the next day sending me into a downward spiral of patheticness (is that even a word?? I doubt it!).
Thanks for your advice and reassurance.
Tilly x

Hi Tilly

I think Ruffles is right and that what you have been called to is a "work-focussed interview" (sometimes called a Pathways interview although that name will probably disappear soon.) These are routine and very common these days and Ruffles is also right in saying the we have a lot of information on this site - including info on these work-focussed interviews! So for detailed information on these wfi's please click www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/work and on the webpage that comes up click on the link entitled "Knowing your rights at Work Focussed Interviews."

I hope the above helps but please post back if we can help any further. Good luck for the interview.

Kind regards

Mr B :)

Hi Mr B,
Thanks for the link - which was very useful (my own dozy fault for trying to find info using the wrong terminology!). I understand what the wfi is for now. I really think I am becoming paranoid about being disabled - you forget that sometimes things may be in place to help rather than for yet more vilification.
Thanks again,
Tilly

My pleasure Tilly thanks. No need to feel bad about any confusion regarding benefits terminology as Benefit Land is extremely complex and most of us find it extraordinarily confusing at times!

All the best

Mr B :)
