Server problems . . . again

Hi All,

My apologies. the newsletter went out last night and yet again we're having problems with the server. We're having an upgrade done on the server today which we hope will help, but it probably means more downtime throughout the day.

Once again, i'm really sorry - it's very frustrating for everybody.

The server has been down intermittently for most of today, and was not up and running again until about 11pm this evening.

As a result, there are a substantial amount of unanswered posts, and the likelihood is that they will not be answered until tomorrow at the earliest. There were eleven posts awaiting moderation in this forum when the website was back online, of which several were duplicates and in one instance, a post had been submitted in triplicate.

Would members please be patient in the light of today's problems with the server, and refrain from submitting multiple identical posts. As has been said many times before, it will not attract a quicker response and will inevitably clog up the forum, only leading to a slower answer to members' queries.

You cooperation is appreciated.

It really has been a nightmare of a day and I'm not sure it's over yet. I think we're going to have to find a new company to host the site, the current one have abysmal support - though they used to be very good.

Meanwhile i would just echo CD's request for people to be patient.

The hours that moderators keep never cease to surprise me.

My apologies again to everyone for yesterday. We have now quadrupled the amount of memory on the server in the hope that this will improve performance.

Still not looking forward to the next newsletter day though.
