ESA an WFHRA was created by srthomas
Hi

I have been on ESA having my medical on been put into WRAG in March2009 and have attended my 6 Work focus interviews. This year I had another medical in May 2010 and was again placed in the WRAG, I now have to attend a WFHRA this week, my questions are :. If the examiner states that I’m fit for work will I lose my ESA payments, will I need to attend another 6 Work focus interviews and if I been placed successfully in the last 2 yrs in the WRAG should I appeal to be placed in the Support group ?
Thanks in advance

Hi.
Sorry i cant answer your question but you just might be the person who can answer mine.
I started claiming ESA IN SEPT. 2009.
I scored 18 points.
My question is it said review in 12months.
Now is the review date from sept. when my claim first went in or Dec. when i had my medical.

Have asked this question a few times and no one seems to know the answer.
But with you now having gone through it twice i am hoping you might know.

Well done on getting through the diabolicle medical twice.
You must be the first i have heard of without having to go to tribunal.

Thanks

Karen x

Hi Karen

Looking at all my paperwork it seems that the review will be 12 months from the date of your medical.
I applied for ESA on Feb 24th and had my medical on May 2nd and it said I could return to work in 6 months.
On the paperwork from the ESA it says I will be reviewed again in November, 6 months from May.

I hope that helps!

Hi

Your WFHRA doesn't affect your ESA in any way, you won't be changed into a different group, it's more like an interview even though the majority of ATOS staff tend to call it your 'second medical'

I had mine last week. The chap was very pleasant and asked me questions relating to my day to day life. Asked me if I thought there was anything I feel would help my condition so I could return to work (weight loss for example). Asked if I had any children, whether I drove etc etc.
It's all quite informal.

At the end he read it all back to me and said I would receive a copy in the post, which I did a couple of days later.

I don't know about having to attend another 6 WFI's, this is my first time on ESA (only had one WFI so far).

As for appealing I think that is all down to your personal circumstances and if you feel you belong in the support group or not.
There is a very small, but possible risk of losing your benefit all together if your case is looked at again so that is something to consider.

You can find out lots more in the members section and the 'Understanding ESA' pdf.

I hope that helps!

I have also gone through this procedure of the ATOS HCA,WFHRA, now WFI

I passed the medical then placed into WHRG where I was immediately told I was going to be groomed for work I had to fight to get the correct information on my work plan as it was a case of the advisor putting comments of her own that I did not agree with then getting me to sign the plan. I did have to complain the correct heath information was not on the plan as it made me look as if I was a healthy individual without any health problems at all.

I explained that I would no longer omit health information on my CV any more as I have now lost three previous jobs through ill health last one being a driver and having Glaucoma and and field loss in both eyes as well as Ambliopia causing double vision.

I was then sent to a private company from Pathways A4e where the main objective is to get me into work I have been seen by two occupational therapists where they have listened to me and to what I had to say but the objective is still work not health.
Health problems are pushed into the background and the emphasis is on work or what work you can do and what aids you would need to get a job.

The motive is to get as many people they can into work as every person that get a job they get paid for.

If you want to work this is good if you do not think you can work as this could cause you further problems this could be a problem unless you have been parked. Please see thread Parking and Creaming on Pathways to work.

So its a hard to pass HCA then WFHRA then 6 WFI where you are creamed or parked here is a problem with the Job Centre saying pathways are sending people to them that are not fully fit to work.

thankyou for your replies,, they have set my mind at ease a little bit .
And to Karene50 the medical took place 12 months from the last medical or at least mine was, hope everything goes alright for you, it really stressed me out going through this ordeal again, but at least I got something, just this WFHRA to endure.
