Switch from HRM to Care in supercession

Hi, I am currently filling in the "Care Component" part of the DLA434 form in order to try and get this component for my mother.

She was awarded HRM for life back in the 90's.

I notice on the recent stats that you published in "Members News" that some cases under review for supercession were switched from the Mobility Component to the Care Component.

I wonder if anyone could tell me under what circumstances (in general) this switch could happen - The reason I ask is that we are currently awaiting delivery of a "Motability" car so don't want to lose the mobility component.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi,

I'm afraid it's impossible for us as moderators to give advice on individual claims, as is explained in FAQ

However, as DLA is one benefit with a care and mobility component, then asking for a review for care component could in theory trigger a review of the mobility component also, although I doubt this would happen in your mother's case if she was awarded HRM for life back in the 90's.

Please note ALL life awards were changed to 'indefinite awards' quite a number of years ago when the legislation changed.

All 'indefinite awards' can be looked at again under the Right Payment Programme

Hope this helps.

Jim
