They only use it as a form of ID if you don't have enough other forms of ID though.

Thanks for the helpful and supportive answers people!
I've another question, I hope that's ok.
I pay my rent along with my regular water payment direct to my landlord in one monthly sum, as the social landlord pays any extra water charges.
The form asks if I pay any service charges along with my rent - so do I put this water payment down as a service charge? I know it's not to be counted as part of my rent but I wasn't sure if they'd consider it to be a service charge or a bill.
Also do I apply for the advance after I've submitted my claim?
Just a heads up that I'm submitting on the day of my deadline. I've set up my account and am working through the sections. It's a week till my deadline and I got a text to expect a phone call from a DWP number about making a UC claim. I assume this is deadline related, but it seems silly they can't tell you're in the process of doing it 🤔
Thanks again folks!

Hi
Regarding advanced payment, you can claim after you submit your claim. I had 1 month to ask for an advanced payment. They tell you the date after you submit in the section about your payments. So if you submit 12th June, your advance payment deadline to claim would be 11th July.

Hi Sowandgrow
It would be classed as a service charge, some service charges are classed as eligible others are classed as ineligible. DWP will not pay any ineligible charges.
I personally would say it was an ineligible charge, you need to ask your landlord, they should be able to give you a breakdown of your service charges into eligible and ineligible.

Sorry yes I see now it asks if you have eligible service payments - as this wasn't eligible under Housing Benefit I assume it isn't under UC so I'm just putting no.
The DWP did phone me quite early in the morning in the end so I was a bit dazed!! They presented it as a call just checking if I was ok doing the claim and telling me what to do if I can't get it done in time, suggesting it was very easy to get an extension (not trusting this of course!). It was a quick and functional call, so I'm glad I didn't have too much time o get nervous that day.
I've got a question about whether in having to list the medical treatments you're receiving this includes every medication you are prescribed? If it includes medication does it also include supplements you buy yourself, or any alternative therapies?
If this is better posted as a separate Topic just let me know and I'll do so.
Thanks again, I would be in such a muddle with this without this community and the resources!!
