PIP and UC question was created by MummyBear
Hello 👋🏻

First time posting here, hoping to get some advice if that's ok.

I've applied for PIP for myself. I've hummed and hahhed about it for a while and finally took the plunge and sent my online application off last week.

I managed to get my GP to write a brief letter confirming what medical conditions I have, how these affect me on a daily basis, and what medication I'm taking. They've also added that due to the conditions and my circumstances I'm unable to work.

I'm wondering if it's worth me sending this letter to UC as well or is there no point......I'm currently receiving the carers element (I have 3 disabled children and classed as a carer for the eldest) so I'm not expected to look for work anyway, but I'm always told to tell them if there's any changes...

So, wwyd? I think I'm just a bit worried about looking like I'm pushing it since I'm already receiving extra elements.

Hi MummyBear

Welcome ot the forum.

I would not be sending a letter to UC. Your doctor's letter is not a change of circumstances. Applying for PIP for the first time is not a change of circumstances as far as UC is concerned. It's not relevant, unless you are hoping to be put into a different UC group - in which case it will trigger a review. If that is not the case - Just make sure that you keep a copy of the doctor's letter safe and you have it for the future if you have a review of your UC.
