ESA To UC was created by Ianeif2
Hi, I am on PIP and ESA and have many assessments with both over the years. For ESA I always had to go to Bolton for the assessment.
Am I going to be one of the ones switched over to UC?
What does this mean? What's the difference?
I've just been served a section 21 and to get housing benefits in a different area I've been told I'd have to apply for UC as I cannot claim the same housing benefits with a different council.
Do I wait for the letter we are all getting?
Or, am I best moving and applying for it because I have to claim housing benefits out of this area?
Thanks.

Hi Ianeif2,
Are you making a decision on moving home dependent on the difference between Managed and Natural Migration to Universal Credit?
There are several factors to consider, so have a read of this BenefitsandWork guide first and let me know how you get on.

No, I have an option to move into an area covered by a different council, so I've been told I would not be able to claim housing benefits there and would have to apply for universal credit to get my rent covered.
I'm not 100% whether I'm going to do this.
I am confused about what I'm reading about us all on ESA being moved onto UC.
I've had many PIP and ESA medicals over the years, so I'm wondering what's going to happen.
Is this going to be another big form to fill out or yet another medical?

Hi Ianelf2,
The DWP plans to move all Income based ESA claims over to UC this year.
I would suggest you phone Citizens Advice Help to Claim regarding what would be the best option for you.

Are you advising everyone who's been on ESA for years to get in touch with Citizens Advice?
Ignore what I put about moving as that's not definite.
Thanks.

I'm not even sure if I'm on ESA as in my bank it's DWP EESA. Is this ESA?
