Is it worth going through WCA for LCW if already working 16hrs a week?

I recently migrated from WTC to UC. Ive just been sent a UC50 form. I am autistic and struggle with my mental health. I get PIP lower rate care. I manage to work 16 hours a week with a supportive employer who makes good reasonable adjustments for me. I find working very challenging but am also proud of myself for getting to the point where i can do some work. Ive tried working more hours in the past and have been unable to sustain it for long.
The UC50 form is making me feel very stressed and Im just not sure i can manage going through all the trauma of the process on top of managing working.
I guess i am questioning what difference/benefit it will make if I can get into the LCW group. If I don’t submit the UC50 form will I be pressured to do more work than I currently do?

Hi Lucas,

Previously you would not have attracted the attention of the Work Coaches as the expected hours of work were 16 hours per week, known as the AET. This has now been increased to 18 per week in general but should be reduced by the Work Coach for claimants with a health condition. In practice I don't think there will be an issue with your working 16 hours per week when you have a diagnosed health condition. If you were to get criticism from a Work Coach you could always ask through your UC Journal to see a different Work Coach.
It is a good idea to complete the UC50 and attempt to get LCW as you would then receive the Work Allowance ( see link below ) Some claimants found themselves £370 per month better off with LCW.

You could also see if you would be better off by using a Benefits calculator such as Entitledto.co.uk
