Can anyone offer any advice or insights in my current predicament.
I recently returned my PIP review for (short one) with loads of supporting evidence and accompanying evidence.
Unfortunately it arrived late (not because I posted it late) , they cancelled my PIP and sent me a letter which took almost 2 weeks to arrive, just like the amount of time it took my review for to arrive. Anyway I called them and asked them to explain why. I made it clear it wad posted well before the deadline and how our post is only delivered 3 days a week. They were understandable and surprisingly they agreed and reinstated my benefit in full.
I have never received a letter or confirmation of this since my call to PIP.
I got my December payment and it was the original amount I usually receive, which is dla standard & mobility high.
Here's where I need advice.........
Because of the PIP being stopped, apparently it triggered a stop in my ESA and in particular the severe disability premium
This has been the case for my last 2 payments including my last one on Friday.
I called DWP yesterday and explained everything. I was asked a few security questions, then asked a few questions to about who I live with and any disability benefits they get, and whether anyone claims carers allowance for me etc.
I live with my elderly and disabled parents, I do not claim CA for either of them, and they do not claim any CA for me.
It's probably just procedure with this sort of thing, but why was they asking all the questions, like how old are they, am I renting a house to them etc etc, what disability benefits they get, what levels, high or low, or anyone receive AA???????
I managed to get a lovely young man on the phone, but it felt quite intrusive, and I wasn't asked all the ind and outs when I originally claimed.
He Said at the end he would send a letter to dwp & a letter would be sent to me to complete.
What shall I do next.
Is this normal procedure
Why was there so many questions
And why didn't PIP trigger a reinstatement of SDP when they were the ones who triggered it being stopped, when they cancelled my PIP (wrongly)

Hope someone can help???????
Out of my mind with worry & out of pocket massively and just in the run up to Christmas as well

I'm sorry, but I can't explain the inner workings of the DWP. Many things that happen don't appear to be fair or logical.

I know you were expecting an automatic reinstatement of your SDP when it wasn't your fault that it was cancelled, but unfortunately, 'automatic reinstatements' rarely happen. I don't know why they asked you so many questions, but systems and procedures change all the time, and they are much more thorough than they used to be about checking people's entitlement to their benefits, which means they are more intrusive to everyone. This is naturally very upsetting when it happens, but it is common for them to do such things.

There isn't anything else you can do at this time but wait for the letter to arrive. You could always put in an official complaint about what has happened, but it won't make any difference to the speed at which they will sort this out.
