managed migration was created by cw12
hi all just completed my managed migration. i know i need to contact council tax to sort that out but im unsure what i need to ask for. my council tax has always been paid. do i ask for a reduction when i ring them im a bit confused about it, thanks.
also i had a support worker attend the migration meeting with me and he wanted to become my appointee for benefits but the universal credit lady said he would have to give his bank account details to her for this and my money would go into his account, because of this we had to cancel appointee. is this correct, i thought even with an appointee you could still use your own bank account. thanks

Hi cw12,

When you phone your local Council you need to ask for the Council Tax Reduction Scheme section. All you need to tell them is that you have had Managed Migration to UC. They should have had training in this and will make the necessary adjustments to your new Council Tax bill. Some members unfortunately have experienced an increase. I cannot say if you will but you could get a preview by entering the details in a Benefits calculator such as Entitledto.co.uk
I would be a little concerned about making a Support Worker your appointee. This should not happen as it is the organisation that the Support Worker is employed by that should be the appointee and would be called a Corporate Appointee. As you have remarked if it was the Support Worker himself then all your DWP Benefits would go into his bank account and would continue to do so even if he was off work due to illness or on holiday etc.
