Change whilst PIP under review was created by Kevsue19
Hi, it’s been ten months since I sent my review back and it feels like my whole life has changed (well it really has) You May remember I lost my husband suddenly at the end of June. I have had all sorts of support from Adult care and physio, but I have also very bravely tired to drive again. I have a 2 year old car sat in my drive with no driver, ,plus my aim was to reach the natural burial ground where my husband is buried. My reason for mentioning this is because in 2020 at my last review, the HP bizarrely gave me 12 points for the mobility part that relates to mental health (or that’s what I have always thought) As I get Enhanced mobility based on my mobility, I just thought it was odd as I then scored 24 in that section instead of the usual 12. The HP said that I “could drive but due to pain did not drive anywhere and would be accompanied when out due to lack of balance. I am now worried that I should tell them I am hoping to build up my driving and can drive short distances, though I am usually accompanied (but not always) My plan is to explain that if they eventually do review me! It shouldn’t make a difference to the amount I am paid but my “widow brain” causes me sleepless nights worrying about things like this and if I should tell them before they do review my award? Thanks for all your help. Losing my husband has been a nightmare, he was my rock and soul mate and did so much for me . Losing him has been the worst time of my life and whilst I say I am worried about my review, some days I think in the big scheme of things, does it really matter . Nothing that they do could be worse than losing my partner of 43 years 😞

Hi Kevsue19
You have enough to be worrying about and I hope that you will be able to stop thinking about this.
You never report to the DWP 'what you hope to do'. That's not how the system works. The assessor gave you the points she thought you should be awarded at that time. You may have been surprised, but leave it at that. It happens to lots of people.
If your health has suddenly improved, then you should report it to the DWP, but that has not happened here, and there is nothing you need to say to them. And while you are going through the intense stages of grief - and struggling to adjust to your new way of living and still needing a lot of support - do not try communicating with the DWP. You are not doing anything wrong, you do not have to tell them about your plans for the future - (frankly they don't care).
I am so sorry about the pain you are in and continue to be in. Be kind to yourself and manage one day at a time. You have so much to think of, and a PIP review should not be on your radar. But I'm glad you came on here and asked. If you have any other questions at any time - come back and ask. I hope that you are reassured that you don't currently have to do anything.
Do take care.
