Thanks BIS. On the subject of whether the passport has to be " current ".....there are some old websites that say an expired passport can only be used for " secondary identifcation ". But this is not the case if you need to attend the Jobcentre and show your ID as according to this new Jobcentre link only the Council Tax statement has to be current but not the passport ( in fact a passport from any country in the world will do as photo evidence ) There is a further link to it from BIS's webpage.
