Carers Allowance and Personal Pension payments

HI all,

I am sure I am right in saying that taking an income from a private personal pension does not count as income in the calculation for carers allowance maximum income payments of £151 per week. I just wanted to check nothing had changed with regards to this issue. I did read the new guide, but I could not see anything about Personal pension income. I know the state pensions and employer paid pensions count, but I think Personal pensions are exempt.

Thank you.

Hi davbam

You are correct, occupational and personal pensions count as earnings for child dependant additions, but not for the basic rate of carer’s allowance.
