Getting a telephone assessment was created by SueB
Hi I would like some advice please I have been in receipt of DLA/PIP since 2006. The last few years I have only been getting a 2 to 3 year award. Now they want to speak to me after me sending my form back to them last May. They called me today without prior warning. But I have declined the call today and asked for a date. Why is my form I filled in not enough for them as my conditions are not going to change? Any advice would be great. I was also in hospital last week with 2 disc bulges and I have been given crutches from physio to help me get around. But I don’t know if crutches will go against me or not?

Hi SueB

Most claimants nowadays receive telephone assessments, some are asked for a video assessment, if you do not have a smart phone then this will not happen. Some claimants have a face to face assessment.

The phone call could be to clarify some aspects on your form that you sent in. they also need to verify what you have written. They may be aware that you were in hospital and just checking the admission and discharge dates.

There are lots of scare stories going around which makes claimants nervous contacting DWP, unfortunately you seldom hear the good news stories.
