Legacy Benefits ,Change of county was created by vic
Hi
Could anyone give me the right information for future reference please
I am on Esa income related, support group ,pip & get Housing Benefit
I am considering of maybe moving in the future from greater Manchester area to the Cheshire area .
If i did move would that be a change of circumstances & automatic move to Universal credit without migration protection or would it remain the same .
I am dreading the migration to Universal has it is & worried that because i claim legacy housing benefit i maybe moved earlier, before the majority of Esa claimants that should be ok until 2029 ?

I may be splitting hairs but there are no automatic "moves" to UC in all cases the claimant must make a new claim for UC.
If you move Local Authorities then you will only be able to receive housing costs by claiming UC, this will result in the closure of your ESA claim.
Gordon
As this will be classed as a Natural Migration there will be no Transitional Protection and you could end up receiving less benefit than before, however, this is not a given as some rates under UC, for example; the Support Group/LCRWA are higher.

Hi vic
The short answer is yes you can keep your ESA and PIP, you just need to inform them of a change in circumstances. You will not be able to claim Housing Benefit if you move to another local authority, if you move within the same local authority area then you can keep, for now your housing benefit.
