I need advice for my specific issue.

I want to marry a woman who is in ESA & PIP since 2020. Due to her long-term illness, she has been receiving ESA (WRAG- Work Related Activity Group and PIP- Lower Rate). In addition, she receives Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit and Child Tax Credit (She has a son, who is a full-time university student).
I am a working single man. My annual income is around £43,000 per Annum. I would like to marry this woman, but she is scared that her benefits will be stopped particularly Housing and Council Tax benefits.

My question is, If I marry her and will move into her house, will she receive the full Housing & Council Tax benefit?
Also what about her continuing ESA & PIP Payments?

I would be grateful for specific advice.

Thanks

Hi sayeedopu

I'm sorry, but your question is outside the scope of this forum, and we would not want to give you the wrong advice.

You need to speak to a specialist welfare advisor who can examine the entire picture. I have attached a link to see if you can find someone in your area advicelocal.uk/

Good luck to both of you

Hi sayeedopu

Any means tested benefits the person receives will be affected if you move in, you have not stated which ESA she is receiving, there are 3 types.

We would advise you to seek help from your local Welfare RightsvOrganisation; advicelocal.uk , they will be able to take all their circumstances into consideration to give accurate advice.

If you are earning £43000, I sincerely hope those benefits are stopped.

A

The answer is not a simple yes or no, you need to follow Gary's advice and get face-to-face support from a local welfare advice office or at the very least put your joint information into one of the many benefit calculators.
