Error at assessment

Error at assessment was created by Newton
I had a face to face assessment today on a review of my PIP award. I gave a different answer today on "Making Decisions About Spending & Managing Your Money" than i did 12 months ago on the paper form. I do not want them thinking it was anything other than just an error on the question asked. Is there anyway to get the error rectified before going to the DWP, or would it be best to contact them in advance? At least that way, they would know i am not trying to hide anything. I have nothing to hide, i just look at bills and cost of living differently and who helps me with either.

Cheers

Hi Newton

I would not worry about it, things change over time.

What I would do is contact DWP and ask for a copy of the assessors report called a PA4.

When you get the report you can then check if it has made any difference, you may have time to write to the decision maker to correct any glaring errors in the report, if you do write to the decision maker make sure you state that you are not asking for a mandatory reconsideration but that you reserve the right to do so once you receive the decision.

Thank you for that Gary, my assessment was 2 hours long and i was unwell with MH and particularly anxiety. I could have had the appointment stopped but decided i wanted out of the way. But mistakes and errors and going to happen in that state of mind.

By decision maker, do you mean the DWP or the person who made the assessment? How long does it normally take for the assessment to reach the DWP ?

Hi Newton,

The decision maker is from the DWP I believe, and they make their decision based on your assessment with the HCP and your supporting evidence.

The assessment is usually pretty quick to get to the DWP I believe. I think it's 48 hours if I remember correctly, but don't quote me on that (I'm still in my learning stage haha).

Regards, Chris.

Hi Newton

The assessors report is usually sent to the DWP within 48 hrs, you then have to wait for the decision maker to make the decision which usually takes 6 - 8 weeks.
