PIP Award Review paperwork has just arrived for my disabled son (27yrs old) . Last PIP for him was 2017. Life long conditions which will not improve). Younger son with the same conditions got 10 yr award previously
The form is nothing like either of the examples given of light touch review forms. I have now ben told it is not "light touch" form as he wasn't given 10yrs previously
In addition it also does not have any of the info that is suggested should be on it as per the light touch review forms. There is no covering letter to say what previous award was, or say that you have long term conditions etc.
There appears to be lots of trick questions - which may relate to any changes of PIP qualifying points for issues etc (I haven't looked up the PIP Guides section yet). Last time I completed PIP Form was December last yr.
Form dated 15th Sept , arrived 27th Sept. Deadline 15th October. Currently waiting on the phone for over 40mins waiting to get through to say I will not be able to get form back on time. Managed to get extension for 8 wks total
Form appears to have a code of PIP 1043 - 24 pages long
Questions:-
How much info do people provide for this review ( I normally type up the whole form so I can fill in, in detail) ?
Has anyone done this style of not so light touch ….- I normally do degree level application with at least 100 pages of evidence. ?
I am under huge pressure currently - but prefer to do all benefit forms once correctly

The way to complete a PIP review form is to treat it as a new claim. If you kept a copy of the previous claim then use that as a template and make any amendments such as new conditions. You need to go to page 129 on the PIP guide to find details on the review.
A pip 1043 form is another name for an AR1 short review form, it should still say AR1 at the bottom left of each page. Its best to treat all reviews as you would a new claim.
If nothing has changed since your previous pip assessment, its best to explain in detail what has changed and what has stayed the same and how you’re finding each task.
If you have an up to date review of your treatment, therapy and medication it could be helpful to include this also.
It is perfectly OK for you to type your answers and attach them as extra pages to the form, just make sure that each page has your full name and NIN at the top and that they are numbered, we recommend "page X of Y" so that it is easy to see if pages are missing. Make sure you clearly mark on the form where your answers are and on the relevant page that you are answering question X.
I would not split your answers across the form and attached pages, do one or the other for each activity (not question), splitting it risks the second part of your answer not being read.
Attach the pages to the back of the form using a staple or make a hole in the top left corner and use a treasury tag, string or ribbon to the form. The pages need to be easily detached so that they can be scanned by the DWP.
If you feel you do not have enough time to complete this form you should be able to arrange an extension by calling the DWP and explain that you need a bit extra time, in your post you have stated that you have already asked for an extension. Remember to send the form of by recorded delivery for peace of mind and then check with Royal Mail that it has been delivered, note down date, time and who signed for it, once you have this information contact DWP, best time is 8.50 am and ask if your claim has been place in the system.
I hope all goes smoothly for you, try and fill in the form over a few days and take plenty of breaks, from previous experience I know this can be very stressful attempting filling the form all in one go, use our guide to help you complete the form; benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/pip
