PIP review complete text received but advice needed

My B/F had a text saying the pip review was complete and a decision letter would be sent in 2 weeks. Capita rang me up as his carer a few weeks ago asking for a phone number for his GP surgery as they have apparently been using old info (the surgery changed it's name but not address) CAPITA SAID THEY HAD NOT GOT THE FORM/medical report from GP, but the surgery have definitely sent it back. The girl asked me loads of other questions and I got flustered and made a couple of stupid mistakes in what I told her regarding when he bathed and saw his GP. He has not seen a GP since the pandemic only the practice pharmacist who controls his medication. His GP has changed anyway in the surgery. She didn't seem to understand that the medication is regularly reviewed by the pharmacist and that the GPs at the surgery prescribed the meds and the pharmacist did the reviews.
I think the whole thing was a shambles. They sent the assessor's report to DWP without him having an assessment ( no video or phone assessment at all)
We are so worried it has all gone wrong, he was paid his normal rate this week and we have rung the pip helpline to see what he will get next month but it's only an automated line and we are worried it;s telling us the wrong amount. This is after a 10-month wait from November 22. It's about finished us both off. Is it possible a paper assessment would keep him at the same rate?
He was on enhanced for daily living and enhanced for mobility. Any advice would be appreciated. Also, can we send for a PA4 form if he had no actual assessment with a person?

Hi j112009

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but don't beat yourself up with any mistakes, errors do happen.

By the sound of your post your friend has had a paper review and Capita just needed to some additional information.

As your friend has not had a face to face or telephone appointment then they cannot ask for a PA4, they need to ask for a copy of the PA3 but a word of warning, not all paper assessments come with a PA3, we have heard on the forum from a number of claimants who were not able to get hold of a copy.

Do they change your entitlement rates if you have only had a paper review? It doesn't seem fair if so because they haven't even seen you or spoken to you on the phone.

Hi j,

I do believe some decisions can be made solely based on a paper assessment, with no further contact from an HCP.

Regards, Chris.

Hi jll2009, I pleaded for and got a paper review assessment for relative as they were in meltdown at the prospect of a phone one where covid meant I would not even be able to be there. Got their enhanced x 2 renewed. So not always bad not to have an interview.
