ADP Reconsideration for Enhanced Mobility was created by Dee Emm
Hi,
I recently received my Adult Disability award, this is my first time claiming as I have never received PIP/DLA. I was awarded enhanced daily living but standard mobility, receiving 8 points in the moving around question. My conditions include sever scoliosis, sciatica & chiari malformation. I really feel think I should have received enhanced for this & I plan to submit a redetermination request. Just wondering if anyone has been successful in doing this with either PIP or Social Security Scotland?
The main reason they gave was the fact that I was able to drive myself into work on occasion & walk into the building. I can only driver short distances as I have sciatica & severe scoliosis. I only drive myself when there is no alternative & I feel up to it, which wasn't often. My employer has since moved me to working from home only & I have advertised my car for sale as I no longer have the strength to release the handbrake (I have Chiari malformation too which effects the strength & coordination in my upper body). I struggle when walking to the en-suite bathroom in my home which is only a few feet away. They accepted this for daily living but not mobility.
Thanks in advance everyone.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

First, can you confirm that the comments about your driving were in regard to the Moving Around activity and not Going Out?
If the latter, then your issues which all appear to be physical ones cannot be considered for this activity.
Did you state on your form that you have now been moved to home working or did this change occur after you submitted it? Was it mentioned during the assessment?
If the limitations in your walking were accepted for some of the Daily Living activities then you should be arguing that those same reasons should be applied to the Moving Around activity!
In order to receive an Enhance award you are going to need to show that your walking is limited to 20m or less, can you do this? Have you applied the "reliability" criteria? For example; if your walking is slower than an able person have you timed yourself over a measured distance, perhaps from where you normally sit to the toilet?
