Hi there, couple of questions please , i talked to my work coach today and we agreed i should really be in the support group ( well apply for sure ) i should of been years ago but after being through two tribunals ( won both ) over the years i was so exhausted i just let it go like some other people ,i applied for pip too and got it first time and awarded on review by a letter for several years so it was a lot to process , well the work coach talked a lot about the process so much and so much info i lost track of it all.
She said if i want to apply she will tell dwp they then will visit me at home to fill the form in.
I have been wondering what happens next ? If they say NO do i just stay in the wrag group with no changes ?
IF I were to disagree with their NO decision i understood i would do a MR ? Then onto Tribunal if that was still a NO , but would i then have to go on assessment rate , have a face to face or provide fit notes ? Im not sure i can take on a lot of stress at present so need to know EXACTLY what im doing. I couldn't financially survive if there was a drop in my money at all as live alone and have no family to help waiting for money ! Im already waiting for sdp to be decided and paid but the new direct debits wont wait ! Many thanks x

I'm afraid it really isn't that easy.

I would be very surprised if your Work Coach has the any idea as to what criteria you will need to meet to be placed in the SG, so don't assume because they are saying you should, that you do.

To start the process you will need to report a Change of Circumstances to the DWP, you can do this by phone but I would follow up in writing.

You will receive a new ESA50 which you will need to complete as if it is a new claim. There will almost certainly be an assessment of some kind (in person, video or phone).

The new Decision can place you in the SG, leave you in the WRAG or remove your award. The Decision carries a right of appeal.

To be placed in the SG you will need to meet one or more of the SG Descriptors, there is a list of these in our ESA/UC Claim guide. I would recommend that you have at least a reasonable expectation that you will meet one before notifying the DWP.
