UC work capability phone assessment was created by Donna2512
Had my daughter's phone assessment today, thankfully because of the guides I was well prepared but it was so arduous. No problems with me being appointee and speaking for her but 45 minutes of grilling despite plenty of evidence submitted. Now we wait, is there any sort of timescale we can expect before we get a decision? Quite anxious because if we don't get a favourable decision then I will have to close her claim as she wouldn't manage interaction with the job centre even online or by telephone

Hi Donna2512, I think that due to the amount of claims ongoing at the moment, no timescale that I am aware of can be advised - however, me personally, I was placed in the LCW group, and contested it. I got a response from the DWP just after 8 weeks declining my MR. This was May through to July. It's in the tribunal stage now at the courts, and I am still awaiting a decision. Hopefully this helps. I am new to moderating, so it is possible that one of the more experienced mods follows up with more information that could help you. Also, I believe Welfare Rights could help assist with your daughter's claim, rather than you feeling like you have to close the claim. You should be able to get a contact number from Google for your local welfare rights office, but if not, I'd be happy to have a look for you if you let me know your area. Regards, Chris.

Thank you Chris. Hopefully I'm just catastrophising after all I sent in evience that she has weekly therapies and support workers to work on basic life and independence skills which hopefully demonstrates that she lacks the skills to work search even. You never know though do you?

No problem at all Donna. I think it's human nature for us to 'catastrophize' situations. Time and uncertainty does this to us. I think all you can do is follow the well known saying "No news, is good news", and remain positive, as difficult as it is at times. The online guides on here are also incredibly helpful towards things going in your favour. Good luck with everything though. Regards, Chris.

Hello Chris, just to update received notification that d has been awarded LCWRA so it seems the worry was for nothing. She has a work focussed telephone appointment booked next month that obviously I take, do you think it will be cancelled now? Haven't seen the point of them myself as job centre accepted from the off that she couldn't attend so it's generally been a quick hello and a check in.

Hi Donna,

Well done on the award of LCWRA. It would seem pointless in my eyes why they would want a work focused telephone appt after the award, but could be that their systems haven't yet caught up. I would advise contacting your work coach, or leaving a message in your journal with a similar message to what you've left on here, and I'd imagine they would have access to the systems to see as to whether the appt is cancelled or not. It's difficult to speculate, because you don't know what the assessors have been told they must do to meet their commitments.

Regards, Chris.
