Recording A Telephone PIP Assessment . was created by routemaster
I had a date for my assessment a few weeks ago but i asked them to record it as i don't have the means to record it myself.

I've now got a new date for a recorded assessment with IAS sending me a record. However i've heard that on the day of the assessment it's not uncommon for the assessor to say they can't record it because the machine's broken.

If that's the case will i be allowed to reshedule my assessment to a date when they can record it.Or as it was already rescheduled once will i have to go ahead with an unrecorded assessment ? Thanks for your advice.

Hi Routemaster

Your assessment was rescheduled because they couldn't record - not because of you cancelling - so it shouldn't even be counted as one of the two possible scheduled dates. If they try saying they want to go ahead with an unrecorded assessment, you should say that you're not comfortable with that and they need to reschedule. If that happens, you write to the DWP the next day, saying exactly what happened and why you have had to ask for a new date on a second occasion.

Thanks for your above reply BIS.

I wonder if you could advise me on another more delicate matter. I've developed a serious drink problem on top of my other health problems. Should i tell the assessor about this and if i do is there a chance my PIP might be stopped on account of them thinking i'll spend it on alcohol. Thanks.

If you don't tell them then the problem cannot be considered in regard to your carrying out the PIP activities.

Nobody assessing you will be interested in how you might spend any award money.
