PIP Payment Before Letter was created by DM10uk
Hello to everyone Its my first time on here could anyone please help with a question I have regarding a PIP payment I received today. I had my assessment two week ago and I received a text message from DWP on Monday this week saying I have been awarded PIP. I did get a copy of my assessment report which wasn't good reading to be honest there were quite a lot of untruths on the report on both parts of the form lots of things that I didn't and thing missing that I did say

The report gave me 8 points standard rate for daily and 4 points for mobility.

The assessment was supposed to be a video call which only lasted 30 seconds I could see and clearly hear the other person but she said she couldn't hear me and told me to cancel the call and that she would ring me back which she did I'm sorry for digressing

I'm still waiting for the letter to arrive to confirm everything having seen my report I will be appealing I am just not sure what I have to do with the money now they have sent me do I need to return it ? and because I will be appealing will the DWP stop all payments until after all the appeal / appeals have taken place.

Kind Regard

Hi DM10uk

Welcome to the forum. You can find out about the forum and how to navigate the site here benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/forum.

First off, you don't need to return the money. Your award letter should arrive, and that award stands while you put in for a Mandatory Reconsideration. You will have one month from the date on the decision letter to put in your MR.

Have a look at the Guide to PIP Appeals, which also contains the information for submitting a Mandatory Reconsideration, and it will walk you through the process. Don't fall into the trap of saying that the assessor 'lied' even if it's true. Use words and phrases like "mistaken," "missed," "omitted," "misunderstood," "failed to mention." benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/pip

The health professional is giving their opinion, which you disagree with. The most important thing is to show where you didn't score the points you think you should have done and point them to the evidence you already gave on your form or you gave during the assessment.

If you win your Mandatory Reconsideration and your award is increased, it will be backdated to the date on the original decision letter. If you don't win the Mandatory Reconsideration, the money will stay the same until and if you win an Appeal.
