ESA - Incontinence support group was created by headabovethewater
I have been accepted for my first esa claim and am now beginning my esa50 questionnaire. I will also be updating my pip as was only awarded daily living back in 2020. Since then I now have consultant letters detailing faecal and urine incontinence that I suffer weekly, my question is would this be enough to be placed in the support group for esa? I am also dealing with cfs/fibro so trying to word correctly the reliably and repeatedly as esa seems a bit different to pip.
Thank you for any help.

If you read the activity and descriptors defined in law then there are multiple aspects to these that you will need to meet.

1. There needs to be an "Absence or loss of control whilst conscious"

2. Which as a result of (1) leads to an "extensive evacuation of the bowel and/or bladder"

3. It can't be "enuresis (bed-wetting)"

4. It has to be "despite the wearing or use of any aids or adaptations which are normally, or could reasonably be, worn or used"

5. For the Support Group it must be weekly

6. There must be either;
"(i) loss of control leading to extensive evacuation of the bowel and/or voiding of the bladder"
"(ii) substantial leakage of the contents of a collecting device, sufficient to require cleaning and a change in clothing."

note: I believe that "sufficient to require cleaning and a change in clothing." applies to 6(i) as well

You need to meet all of the above to meet the SG requirement, whilst it might be unpleasant to do so, you also need to provide evidence to support this, those assessing you are unlikely to accept your word that you have these problems.

Yes thank you, very unpleasant but consultant letters do confirm this. Do you think they will still see me or go from the letters? Here's hoping!

Hi headabovethewater

Now that is a six million dollar question which unfortunately we cannot answer, most assessment are nowadays over the phone.
