Good Morning,

I have got to the point where I might be able to tell DWP I need to come off UC for my mental health alone they are still constantly changing their mind on our claim.
To cut a concise 33-month-long story, we have had 7 payments totalling over £2500.
Now our local MP has been working very hard to get this case to a Tribunal because of them constantly changing their minds about paying rent and us anything due. turns out we as a married mixed-age couple are not entitled to any payment because of pips and carers allowance, that's cool but it's the fact that I have to phone them all the time to let them know that again have put on the statement the wrong figure for CA this in return then plays havoc with the council tax we have to pay and I never know how much dd is going to be taken from my account.

My question is can I come off UC and leave all this confusion behind me and still go to the tribunal if not for us but for You the next mixed-age couple because the DWP have blamed all this mess on the fact that we are a mixed-age couple

I hope this can be a help to anybody
Thank you

I can't think of any reason why a PIP award would have a negative effect on UC, it is not treated as income.

CA will be so it is possible that it, combined with your State Pension makes you ineligible to receive any UC payments but I would get a benefit check from a local advice centre before taking any action. See

As to you coming off the UC claim, I'm afraid UC is always claimed as a couple where applicable, so the only way to leave all this "confusion" behind is to close the claim completely.
