Blue Badge Renewal was created by Sheila 966
My husbands PIP award originally ran to January 2023, this was extended, by letter, in the Spring of '22, to run until October 2023.
On the strength of that extension notice the local Council issued a second Blue Badge to run from the original award end date to the amended date, October '23, but have now sent a reminder for him to renew again.
We haven't received any updates other than a couple of text messages advising him that they have his renewal claim and will be in touch. Consequently I spent an amount of time, last week, on hold waiting to speak to someone regarding his renewal claim - a totally fruitless activity, cut off 3 times - on one occasion after being on hold for 40 minutes, and had to abandon the call myself on 5 further attempts - life got in the way - you can only spend so much time on hold!
My question, which I am sure has been asked a number of times - Is there an email address that can be used to follow up on Renewal Claim progress? or, a dedicated line for requesting extension letters?
I appreciate that Blue Badge renewal requests may not be everyone's priority but the same problem with lack of claim updates must be affecting people across the board - Mobility cars/Badges/Grants etc)
Any advice/feedback will be gratefully received
Sheila

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Sheila 966
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but there isn't an email or dedicated phone line regarding extensions. It's infuriating when you get cut off. All I can advise you is to ring when the lines first open as they tend to be less busy. You're absolutely right - there are lots of Blue Badge holders and those with Motability cars being affected by the backlog of reviews. You just have to keep trying to get through.

Hi Sheila 966,
I had the same problem. I have still not had a review so decided to apply for my blue badge independently form PIP which you can do on-line. You just need medical evidence etc. It took a while but I have now received my blue badge for 3 years without the need to rely on pip.
Good luck
