Hiya. My adult son whi has autism had his pip review just before covid and he had a face to face health assessment. The health professional told dwp that my son had awkward eye contact but she put 0 points for engaging etc. The dwp sent the letter giving reasons for not being awarded pip, and he said he decided to give my son 2 points for the lack of eye contact, the judge at my sons 2017 tribunal awarded my son 4 points. I sent a mandantory reconsideration appeal and then covid happened and they dwp reversed their decision but it was only because of covid. A few months a go dwp said they had resumed reviews and appeals again and they passed the original review to slither health assessor. The health assessor rang me and it was a very brief phone call, ten minutes, asking just about my sons work. The dwp then stopped my sons pip but on his decision letter he awarded my son 0 points for eye contact. I'm confused about this because before covid dwp gave 2 points and for the same review , after covid dwp have awarded 0 points and my son was not seen again or talked to the health assessor when she rang me. I've sent a mandantory appeal and have been turned down so i am talking it to the tribunal again. Do i tell the tribunal about the above ive just typed? I don't know where I stand with that. Thank you. Debbie.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Filey
You can tell them anything that you think is relevant. I think it is, and I would say so. It is a strange decision, particularly because most people with autism struggle with eye contact. When you mention it, don't forget to point them to any examples you put in originally about his difficulties with communication.
