Hi,
I had a text last week to say my pip review is now complete, and letter will follow, so don't ring up. Does that mean they have made a decision?

Hi BIS,
Thanks for your reply.
It's been 9 days now since the text, so I will ring them next week if I've not had letter by then.
Kind regards

Hi BIS,
I rang them today instead, and spoke to a decision maker, they have reduced my Daily Living but increased my mobility. The Decision maker couldnt understand this, and said it was very strange, as to why they have reduced the DL, when I have had it for many years previously. So now I have to do Mandatory Reconsideration. They know Ive had Enhanced DL for few years, so how would me writing to them get them to change their minds?
Kind regards

Hi Suexx

I'm glad you phoned them, but sorry it wasn't the news you were hoping for.

You could ring the DWP back and ask for a copy of the assessment report. It should be a PA3 (if it was a paper-based assessment). You might be told that one wasn't written. If you're told that, (as quite a few of our members have reported) you still need to know why your daily living has been reduced, and you should try and push for a reason. It is supposed to be clear why they think your condition has improved. It's not good enough for the decision-maker to say they didn't understand it - because they made the decision to agree with the Health Professional. (If I've got it wrong and you had a telephone assessment - then it's a PA4) You may get some additional information when you get the decision letter.

Only you can decide whether it's worth putting in for the Mandatory Reconsideration. Only about a third of MRs are successful but the people who win always think it is worth the time. If your condition/s have not improved then you should fight to have your DL restored to enhanced. Don't focus on the length of time you have already had enhanced daily living, focus on how your condition has not changed (indeed it might have got worse) since your last review.

Hi BIS,
Thanks for your reply. I already have the assessors report. These are the reasons she gave. She says she was considering assistance, for all the following, preparing food, bathing and washing and dressing, but because i said i can grip and remove film from a ready meal (I didnt, I said i stab it with knife, or scissors, and peel back the plastic when its cooled down a bit) because I fell in hallway, and she said i gripped hold of the bannister rail (I didnt, I said i had nothing to get hold of, so i put my hand palm flat on the stairs at bottom to support my weight, whilst i got up from the floor very slowly and was extremely breathless afterwards, and because I said i can use adapted cutlery. (I didnt, I said I had tried them in the past, but i still couldnt use them properly because of the pain and weak grip in my hands and fingers.
She just didnt write down properly what I said. But because she said she was considering assistance, on all the 3 areas, then that would be what ive also needed in the past too, which led to me having the enhanced daily living previously.
Anyway, they are sending out the mandatory reconsideration form now, so I will just have to explain the above in more details, and see what happens.
kind regards
