Help PIP review was created by Changes2023
Hi

Hoping someone can help me , i did my pip review form october 2022 , my pip was extended until october 2023 due to covid ,

I have recieved the usual text message saying "we have your PIP form etc" the last one was 3rd july ,

I moved from england to wales in june , and i sent the DWP further evidence of letters for my mental health and change of address by recorded delivery and it was "delivered" , i also put "please could you write to me to say you have recieved my correspondence"

But have recieved nothing
And now tonight i recieved a PIP text message saying :

Hello from Independent Assessment Services. We conduct Personal Independence Payment (PIP) assessments for the Department for Work and Pensions DWP. This is for information purposes only, to let you know that we are managing your PIP assessment. We will look at the available evidence and will contact you with an appointment if we need to have a consultation with you. You can find information about the service we provide at www.mypipassessment.co.uk. You do not need to contact us.

Im worried that my new evidence has not got to these people , as they havent contacted me to say so ,

Also with me moving , my health records are still not showing properly at my new GP ,
I had a CT scan just before moving that revealed a slipped disk in my back and also a bulge in my bowel ,

But im having trouble getting hold of it ,

My main concern is i CANT lose my motarbility car , its been my life saver ,
Ive been able to get to appointments and even able to sort out my mental health , where as before i couldnt do it due to my anxiety ,
I had been referred for Intensive psychological therapy just before moving ,
And am sorting it out here ,
So losing my car makes me anxious thinking about it , because i WANT to sort out my life ,
Like today , i had to travel an hour to coloposcooy to have a biopsy taken ,
I was crying at this new hospital (as ive only lived here 6 weeks) and had a panic attack and the only thing that kept me going was the car was outside ,

I live rurally , i literally cant go through an assessment , im at the darkest place in my mind and i want to keep the little bit of sanity i have to focus on getting me on the intensive psychological therapy list here ,

I moved here to be closer to family for some support but that hasnt happened and im trying not to let that get into my head ,
My sister im so thankful to have she is living with me , and passed her driving test in order to drive me to appointments ,

Does that go against me that ive stopped driving due to the stress , and that my sister does all the driving ? ,

I know i need to act fast with trying to get this independent assessment people to do a paper based assessment, and also not take away my motarbility , its not just a car to me its my life line to getting the help i need ,

Please any advise my hands are shaking , i was already in pain and drained with panic attack today ,
Now im panicking again .

Please advise me

Hi Changes2023

I've never known them to reply to a letter to say correspondence was received after the claimant made a request - so I'm not surprised by that.

If you want to know whether the DWP got your additional evidence - you can call them and ask the call handler to look at your records. If it's on the system - then it's available to the assessment services.

The fact that you can no longer drive will not be held against you. The mobility component is not about driving, even though many people find they are penalised for driving and claiming PIP.

If you want a paper-based assessment, you can request one, but they are not obligated to agree. If they turn you down for a paper-based assessment, you can appeal and see if you can make them change their mind. If they don't you can appeal a second time. You could get a letter from your doctor saying that a telephone/video or face-to-face assessment would cause you "Overwhelming Psychological Distress", but this could be difficult as your GP doesn't know you. Even with a doctor's letter, they can still choose to ignore it. Only about 12% of assessments are paper-based.

If you find yourself trying to fight for a paper-based assessment - you need to put the focus on your mental state. Do not put the focus on keeping your Motability car - because they don't care about that. They're judging your health against the specific PIP criteria - so it's your struggles with the stress, anxiety and panic attacks (and any other medical conditions) and how that limits your life and leaves you requiring support which is important to get over. (I do understand that the car is a lifeline for you, as it is for many others - I'm just saying make sure you don't put the focus on it).

I don't know whether they will take account of your recent issues - it depends on the timing. You need to have experienced them for three months before informing the DWP and the certainty that they will be ongoing for at least the following nine months.

I rang the DWP this morning and asked if my evidence i sent in earlier this month and she said she couldn't see it on the system,
Weirdly though this is how I told them my change of address ,
And THAT was on there system ,

I said that to her and she didn't have an answer all it was is "any forms not scanned into the system get destroyed after a month"

I told her I wanted them on there as I had recieved a text from the independent assessment service and wanted them to have up to date evidence ,

She said she would look into it , and I'll send them in again,

I need to try my best to get a paper based assessment , because I had a 2 hour assessment with the mental health team , it nearly broke me

I spoke of things id buried and I opened Pandora,s box , I was suicidal for 2 weeks ,
I really can't go through speaking about anything I'm going through at the moment without breaking down ,

I'm scared this will be point of breaking me

Thank you for your help
