Severe disability premium was created by Misterzero
I was transferred over from DLA to PIP in September i filled in the form using your guides which explained everything simply and clearly ,I was lucky enough to get a paper based review and got the letter yesterday saying I was awarded care and mobility for an ongoing period .firstly thanks for all the help and secondly it shows that sometimes the system works well.I have 2 questions ,what does a ongoing period mean and secondly iam eligible for Severe Disability Premium , will this be automatically added to my esa or do I need to apply for it and how do i do this

Many congratulations on the award. well done.
An On-Going award means, subject to there being no Change in your limitations, that you will not be revied for at least ten years and when you are that it will be a Light Touch review, although we cannot say what this will entail as no one has received one yet.
To be eligible for the Severe Disability Premium you need to meet the following criteria;
- You need to be receiving or entitled to (with the SDP) Income Related ESA
- You need to be receiving a qualifying benefit such as a PIP Daily Living award (there are other benefits)
- You need to be living alone or considered to be living alone
- No one must be receiving Carers Allowance against the qualifying benefit
If you meet all of the requirements then contact the DWP office dealing with your ESA claim and ask to complete an IS10 form, this captures details about the above and will allow the DWP to make a Decision about whether you are eligible for the Premium.
